Design Show 2015

The second year civil engineering students work in groups of five to design a temporary structure for a site within an urban environment. This requires the observation and analysis of the site and its surrounding environment, the development and refinement of concepts through sketching, diagramming, technical drawing, modelling and calculation. The designs must consider the structures performance, form, materiality, construction process, its impact on the site, and the user experience. This years site is located towards the southern end of Southampton adjacent to a section of the towns medieval wall. Proposals included elevated platforms, bridges and structures that enhance the existing site.
