Acoustical Engineers have to combine their understanding of physical principles, human perception and technological possibilities so as to design a world that sounds better \u2013 whether it be clearer classrooms, quieter jet engines or superior stereo systems.<\/p>\n<p>The power of horns to amplify sounds has been recognised throughout history. Our first year Acoustical Engineering students were challenged to design, build and test a series of horns, each emphasising a different frequency range giving each one a characteristic sound.
