Southampton University Formula Student Team (SUFST) is a team comprising students spanning all years of undergraduate study who design, build, test and race a single seater race car. Each year the team compete at Formula Student UK at the famous Silverstone Circuit.
This year the team are building their third electric vehicle and major developments have been made in both the chassis and battery design, including a new concept for battery removal and a move to a spot-welded battery design. “Stag X” is the latest contender the team has developed comprising of a single rear motor, custom accumulator, full aerodynamics package and a carbon fibre monocoque. The focus of this car has been on reliability and setting the groundwork for performance-based developments in years to come.
