This society was founded in 2021 and has developed four divisions that work both collaboratively and individually for the development of the projects and members involved.<\/p>\n<p>Primary amongst these divisions is EKKO division that is designing and building a single person solar powered competition car for the 2027 solar challenge where they will race across the Australian outback whilst attempting to use only solar power. This is a highly competitive division that has been working across the engineering disciplines to develop bespoke electrical systems whilst simultaneously designing a unique aeroshell and solar-electric drive chain.<\/p>\n<p>The Solar UAV team is developing a perpetual fight unmanned aerial vehicle that uses solar panels and rechargeable batteries to continually fly without external power sources. In developing this UAV there has been a constant battle between having sufficient energy production and storage against the increasing power requirements these modifications make. This has led to this division developing many rapid prototypes and delving into a large range of simulation programs.<\/p>\n<p>Both these divisions are supported by the Solar division, that is building and encapsulating solar cell arrays in preparation for creating a full-scale array and developing arrays for the solar car and UAV.
