This ascending structure has been designed to sit on an existing brick wall and to project up towards an overhead walkway. The base section is dimensioned to align with the bricks in the wall below and its box construction provides structural stiffness, mass, and is simple to manufacture and construct. The angled geometry of the vertical cantilever aligns with the asymmetric geometry of the bridge above and its truss design reduces weight, minimised material usage, provides structural stiffness, and results in a visual transparency. The joint between the two sections has been designed to withstand the asymmetric forces.
