Pop-up Theatre
Canute’s Palace, Porters Lane, Southampton

A temporary pop-up theatre located within the footprint of Canute’s Palace.

This proposed temporary building aims to act as a catalyst for discussion regarding the future development of Canute’s Palace and its surroundings. Constructed from a proprietary scaffolding system the structure is formed from a series of adjacent frames with cross bracing members acting as the linking elements. Scaffolding boards, joints, grips and cladding material are used to form floors and clad the exterior. A layer of quilted material is hung internally to achieve suitable internal acoustic properties and help reduce noise emissions externally.
