A traversing structure designed to simply span the gated entrance below. The triangular cross section of the truss was chosen for its efficiency and its resistance to buckling forces; truss members have been optimised to realise an efficient strength to weight ratio and create a visually delicate form. The splayed support legs provide stability and the steel weights, sprayed red, are sized to counteract the calculated effects of wind loading. Twelve plywood sections have been laser cut and laminated together with their joints offset, edges staggered and with locating tabs to aid high quality and precise construction.
