This lookout structure has been designed to lean against a window cill at one end and on the corner of a masonry wall at the other, and support a short cantilevered section to project around the corner of the building. The structure consists of three components, all made from laminated plywood wood for strength and to help resist bending. Two ‘arm’ components interlock and are uniquely profiled to fit the site. A ‘leg’ component acting in compression has a cruciform cross section for optimal stiffness and resistance to buckling about either axis, and tapers at the top to lock the arms in place and at the base to emphasise the intended visual lightness of the structure.
