This traversing structure spans over a flight of steps and rests on the dwarf walls on either side. The two sections of the structure are wider at their bases to provide stability against overturning under lateral loads, and reduce in width along their lengths to a point where they interlock with and support each other. The braced frame construction allows for an efficient strength to weight ratio, helps resist torsion and is visually transparent. Plywood cross sectional plates act as diaphragms and connect timber beams that span longitudinally.
