Formula Student is an exceptional opportunity for students to gain hands-on engineering and project management experience by applying their academic knowledge to a real-world vehicle development programme. From design and simulation to manufacturing, testing, and competition, team members are exposed to the full product lifecycle in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that mirrors industry practice. Many SUFST members go on to secure competitive placement years and graduate roles at prestigious companies across a wide range of sectors – including motorsport, aerospace, finance, automotive, and more.

For the 2025 season, SUFST is focused on three core goals: iterating and improving upon last year’s car, STAG X; removing existing scrutineering vulnerabilities to ensure a smoother and more competitive event experience; and creating an enjoyable atmosphere for all team members, encouraging a positive and inclusive team culture. The 2025 car features a carbon fibre monocoque, a full carbon fibre aerodynamic bodywork package, a carbon fibre rod suspension system, a newly developed 8-segment accumulator, and a custom low- voltage battery.
