This ascending beam has been designed to bend over its length so that its vertical deflection is just short of the height difference between the top of a wall and the adjacent ground level. Two brackets fit around the top of the wall and under the handrail, both resisting a downwards forces and acting as pivoting points for the beam. The beam is constructed from layers of mechanically fixed plywood with additional build-up of layers at the tip to add weight so as to induce the overall bent form of the structure.
